Paint a soft sky, a watery colour transition or a building sketched first as areas of colour. The round Roubloff 1410 brush in natural squirrel hair takes up plenty of water and releases it as you paint. Its pointed tip helps you add smaller shapes and accents afterwards.
The pack contains five identical 1410-series brushes, all size 8. Each has soft natural squirrel hair, a round tuft, a chrome-plated ferrule and a short birch handle. This is not an assortment of five different sizes.
The tuft is 8 mm wide and 28 mm long; overall brush length is 234 mm. Size 8 is the brush number. Stroke width also depends on pressure, angle and dilution. Choose this soft, water-holding brush for watercolour, flowing areas of colour and illustrations combining colour shapes with details.
Dampen the hairs and load diluted watercolour. Use the side of the tuft for a fuller patch of colour and the point with light pressure for a smaller mark. Try a scrap of the same paper to judge how much water you need. A stiffer brush is more practical for thick paint and vigorous scrubbing. Use a separate masking brush for masking fluid. Paint, paper and other working materials are not included.
Before first use, rinse out the protective gum with running water. Clean immediately after watercolour painting with water and, if needed, mild soap or suitable brush soap. Gently reshape the damp point and dry the brush horizontally at room temperature, away from sunlight and heaters. Do not leave it standing on its hairs in a water jar or use acetone-based cleaners.
